Pushpa 2 The Rule
I must point out that while I had some reservations about certain artistic decisions in Pushpa: The Rise, overall, I found it to be a pleasant viewing experience. Particularly, when Allu Arjun received the Best Actor National award for his role, sparking a lively discussion among cinema enthusiasts, I supported the decision. I appreciated how the actor effectively utilized his physical presence to deliver a performance that, upon closer examination, is quite challenging to execute. Regarding the debate on whether performances in commercial films should be recognized with awards, my stance is, why not?
Writer-director B. Sukumar, who achieved massive commercial success with Pushpa: The Rise, is determined to maintain the winning formula in sequel. He continues to capitalize on the elements that brought him and lead actor Allu Arjun great profits.
In its relentless pursuit of repetition, Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 sometimes risks becoming a cumbersome and overly complex film. Although it manages to avoid this scenario, it does venture into exaggerated and artificial sequences that exist solely to enhance the main character’s image of being powerful, disregarding any sense of logic or realism.

The Rise promises to take fans on an exhilarating journey into the life of Pushpa Raj.
Sukumar’s script, AA’s engaging behaviors, and Fahadh Faasil’s long screen time all worked together to enhance the impact of the previous film audiences throughout the country.
The attempt shows varied outcomes. Some of the major scenes in the movie, which are long and loud, are somewhat effective. However, the remaining scenes are not successful.
Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, the cinematographer who showcased his remarkable talent in the first installment, once again delivers outstanding work in the sequel. The film’s technical aspects are flawless, meeting the high standards set by its predecessor. However, the narrative falls short, suffering from inconsistent pacing and uneven storytelling.
I found it refreshing how Sukumar allowed serious moments to have space to unfold without diluting unnecessary humor in the early parts of the movie. Instead, he strategically inserted humor at the right moments. I also noticed the striking resemblance between Allu Arjun’s character and body language and the iconic gangster roles portrayed by Mohanlal in Malayalam films during the 80s and early 90s, such as in movies like Spadikam and Rajavinte Makan. The power dynamics and political maneuvering in both Pushpa movies brought to mind certain situations reminiscent of The Godfather films. For instance, there was a scene where a politician, despite being supported by Pushparaj, declines to align with him or take a photo together.
